Adyson Jenness won last year's golden egg hunt, finding the prize March 22 on a walking trail near Spruce Street. The egg was hidden in the grass behind a horse barn, and Jenness received a $1,000 gift certificate from Carey's Furniture and a one-year subscription to the Cherokee Chronicle Times.

Carey’s Furniture will host its 17th annual Great Easter Egg Hunt from Monday, April 7, through Friday, April 18, or until the coveted golden egg is discovered.

The community-wide event offers a grand prize of $1,000 in furniture from the downtown Cherokee store, along with a one-year subscription to the Cherokee Chronicle Times.

A single golden egg will be concealed within the Cherokee city limits, excluding private residential property. Participants will rely on a series of clues, available on the Carey’s Furniture website and published in the Cherokee Chronicle Times on Fridays throughout the duration of the contest.

Should the golden egg remain unfound by the contest’s conclusion on April 18, additional bonus clues will be made available exclusively on the Carey’s Furniture website.

To claim the prize, the finder must return the golden egg to either Carey’s Furniture or the Cherokee Chronicle Times. No purchase is necessary to participate. The decision of the judges is final. Employees of Carey’s Furniture, the Cherokee Chronicle Times, Storm Lake Times Pilot and their immediate families are prohibited from participation.
