Cherokee HS hosting Cut-A-Thon Assembly May 7

Cut, donate your hair for a good cause

Posted

Cherokee Washington High School’s National Honor Society is hosting a Cut-A-Thon Assembly on Wednesday, May 7, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the CWHS auditorium. This event allows grade 7-12 students and staff to learn more about cancer and support research.

Are you interested in donating your hair? Go to your local hair stylist and get your hair cleaned, sectioned, dried and cut at least eight inches in length. You can put your hair in a gallon-sized ziplock bag with your name on it ready to donate. You can then put your hair in a collection bin at local hair salons or send it to the high school by Wednesday, May 7. Grades 9-12 CWHS students and staff may sign up to donate during the Cut-A-Thon on May 7.

The NHS students are also collecting monetary donations for cancer research at the Mayo Clinic. There will be donation buckets available until May 7 at various Cherokee business locations. Checks can be sent to the high school by Wednesday, May 7 and be made out to CCSD, Memo: Cut-A-Thon.

During the week of April 28 to May 2, NHS members will be selling Pura Vida bracelets and clip-in hair tinsel. The bracelets will cost $8 and the tinsel will cost $2. The merchandise will be sold in all CCSD buildings; before school for the elementary and lunch times for the middle school and high school.

The theme for this year’s Cut-A-Thon Assembly is “Give A Little, Gain A Lot.” Please consider supporting this service project. Feel free to contact Natalie Barkley at the high school if you would like more information.
