DARLENE L. DOBSON, 98, of Flagstaff, Arizona, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Graveside memorial services will be held in the Spring of 2025 at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Darlene was born on March 26, 1926 to William and Jessie (Wayman) Moses Jr. at Cherokee, Iowa. She attended Fort Dodge and Cherokee Public Schools, graduating from Wilson High School in 1945. In her teenage years she worked at F.W. Woolworth’s in Cherokee.
She was united in marriage on December 25, 1945 to John Richard Dobson.
Darlene was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. She was active in church activities and especially liked the Bible Buddies program. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
In Darlene’s free time, she enjoyed flower gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Dobson, son Gary Dobson brother Bill Moses, sister Betty Dobson and her husband Homer, and son-in-law Mark Sawyer.
Darlene will lovingly be remembered by her daughter: JoAnn Dobson Sawyer of Flagstaff, Arizona; daughter-in-law Sally Dobson of Cherokee, Iowa; five grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; also many nieces and nephews.
