DELLA F. WOLF, 99, of Cherokee, Iowa, was awarded her angel wings on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday. Della was born to Harry and Isabelle (Joslin) Kurtz at Cushing, Iowa. She was raised on a farm, along with her younger brother, Merle. She was baptized at a young age at the Cushing Methodist Church and remained a Methodist her entire life. She was a 70 plus year member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
After graduating from Cushing Schools, she attended and obtained a teaching degree from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. She continued her education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. After 38 years of teaching, 24 in the Cherokee School district, she retired.
Della married R.D. Cunningham and two children were born to this union, Max and Myrna. They later divorced. She was united in marriage to Forrest C. Wolf at the Little Brown Church. He preceded her in death.
In her younger years, she was a boy scout leader, Sunday school teacher, belonged to UMW, and Charity Circle. She belonged to the Retired Teacher’s Association and Iowa World Org of China Painting, local book clubs, and card clubs. Mother enjoyed music her entire life. She played the piano daily and music was always playing in her home.
Her family was her world, a devoted mother, grandma, and great grandma.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Bradley Wolf, brother Merle and his wife Mardy, many other family members and friends.
Della is survived by her son Max (Laurie) Wolf; daughter Myrna (Chuck) Sell; two grandsons Nick (Alicia), Travis (fiancé Toni); two great grandsons Bo and Cash; special niece Jane and her family; several other nieces and nephews.
