Donald Grause Jr.

Donald Roy Grause passed away at the age of 58 on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home in Cherokee, Iowa. Don's life will be honored with a Celebration of Life ceremony on Saturday, June 13th, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, where the gathering will take place at his father's grave site. In Don's honor, attendees are encouraged to wear purple and gold to represent the Minnesota Vikings or blue and red for the Atlanta Braves, his favorite sports teams.

Don was born on February 14, 1967, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Roy Donald Grause and Janice Jean Carlson. He attended schools in Cherokee and Larrabee, Iowa, and in Pascagoula, Mississippi. 

Don loved hunting and fishing, crawfish boils, and bonfires. He also loved cheering on his favorite teams, the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Braves.

Don's survivors include his beloved daughter- Hailea Jean Grause of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and his mother, Janice Jean Rodesch of Cherokee, Iowa. He leaves behind his sister Jacqueline Grause Daniels (Greg) of Thomson, Georgia; Michael Dale Grause (Jeff) of Sioux City, Iowa; Michelle Dawn Allen of Hurley, Mississippi; and brother Steven Andrew Grause (Missy) of Pomeroy, Iowa.

Don additionally had several half-brothers and sisters including: Cindy Nielsen Kenealy (John) of Oakland, Iowa; LuAnn Nielsen Robinson (Terry) of Iowa City, Iowa; Philip Nielsen of Iowa City, Iowa; Roger Nielsen of Davenport, Iowa; Dan Grause of Nevada, Iowa; Jane Astor of North Liberty, Iowa; Julie Grause Hendricks (Gary) of Humboldt, Iowa; and Jill Grause Jergens of Gilmore City, Iowa. "Uncle D" was additionally cherished by numerous nephews and nieces.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald "Roy" Grause; half-brother John Grause and half-sister Sue Grause White. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of his family and friends. Go rest high on that mountain, Don. We love you, and your memory will forever live on in our hearts.
