DONNA L. WILKIE, 90, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate.  Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. at Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee, Iowa on Tuesday morning.  Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. 

Donna was born on December 16, 1933 at Cherokee, Iowa to Fred and Myrna (Runnings) Gill.  She graduated from Meriden High School in 1952.  She worked as a nursing aide at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital and as a secretary for the Cherokee County Conservation Office until she was married and then stayed home to raise her children. She was united in marriage to Bob Wilkie on June 5, 1955 at the Larrabee Methodist Church. 

She was a Sunday School teacher and had served on several boards at the Larrabee United Methodist Church and then was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee.

Donna enjoyed bridge group, 500 card clubs, and Dance Club once a month at the V.F.W. and the Cherokee Country Club.  She loved watching the Cherokee Braves, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Donna cherished spending time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis in infancy, son Kent, and brother Jim Gill.

Donna will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Bob of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter  Denise and Jeff Clements of Spirit Lake, Iowa and son Kevin and Karla Wilkie of Cherokee, Iowa; 6 grandchildren Nicole (Dillon) Miner, Jill (Walker) Woods, Jaden (Jeff) Arends, Hillary Wilkie, Eric Wilkie, and Rachel Bugh; 4 great grandchildren, Jamesin Meyers, Nash and Lennox Miner, and Georgie Woods.
