Kim Ann Alesch was born on Nov. 16, 1956, Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, the daughter of James and Margaret (Kellen) Alesch. She was raised and educated in Marcus, graduating in 1975 from Marcus High School.

As a mother of four, her biggest source of pride was watching her kids succeed and seeing the ways they gave back to their own communities.
