In the predawn moments developed in Aurelia, the excitement and anticipation began to build. General Lee once said that this was his favorite time of day. The anticipation of a new day when the temperature is usually at its lowest. For the greatest Kiwanis club ever, it too is the time of day we are at our best.
The electricity for the upcoming meeting begins to build as the members begin to assemble. They enter the hallowed halls of the Community Center in groups and individually. Who are they you ask? Just some of the greatest people working to make life better for Aurelia, with special emphasis on the young folks in our school. You guessed it, the Aurelia Kiwanis Club.
Do they do anything you ask? Oh yea.
Yesterday afternoon, they walked the ditches cleaning up the mess made by low life knot heads that throw their garbage out the window along highway 7.
Today, right after the meeting 21 holes were drilled and prepped along the walking path for new flags to be mounted to complete the Avenue of Flags. Another beautiful addition.
Tomorrow, mix and run concrete to fill the holes to support the flag poles. That will take 128 sacks on premixed concrete. Yikes, these people are something.
Then Sunday we have our Annual Spaghetti Dinner. Now ain't that cool. Sure hope you show up with a fist full of dollars so we can continue our work to make our community better.
We don't know your favorite spaghetti sauce, but ours in homemade by Bob and Amy. Now let me tell you sports fans it is without a doubt the best sauce this side of Chicago. Not too hot, not too mild, just a special mixture to create a one of a kind sauce. A true A things of beauty meant to tantalize and tease your taste buds.
If you can not attend, you can still donate by sending cash, check, or money order. We even accept donations of under $1000.00. Thank you one and all.
Our speakers for the day were the Alta-Aurelia golf coaches.
Always interested in what our student athletes are up to. They are both very excited and optimistic for the season to begin. Both teams will be young, but hope some of the younger players will step up before the season is over.
Good luck coaches and teams.
As you might guess, our business meeting consisted of discussing our upcoming activities.
It appears everything is organized and ready to go.
Man rolls through a stop sign. Cop picks him up. Man says what's the difference. Cop starts hitting him with his night stick, and asks if he wants him to stop or just slow down. Yikes.
Gotta go, irons in the fire,
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Have a great week.
Hugs.
