Thursday, July 31 Meeting

Now wait a minute sports fans, you ain’t never experienced nothe’n like our Kiwanis meeting this morning. We had a queen as speaker and also, as Dan The Seed Man said. “A presentation of our international speaking tour.” More on that later.

First of all our breakfast of biscuits and gravy as well as a fruit salad was compliments of Nicky and Tom. Can you believe it? Home made biscuits, still hot from the oven, and sausage gravy, fit for royalty. Thanks Nicky (Martha Stewart) and Tom the Telephone Man. Fantastic.

Due to many utility complications, it was decided our walking path story book part of the trail, will be located just south of the Methodist church. Should be a great location. Our hopes are to begin construction sometime next week.

Jen and Jan then presented the first book to be along the path. They did a great job. Wish I could tell you more, but you were not there. He, he.

Lily, Erin, Jen, Jan and Farmer Kirk were all special guests.

What an honor to have them all at the meeting of the greatest Kiwanis club ever.

Before our speakers, we all signed a card thanking Jeremy Johnson for all his time and effort he put in to help make the Aurelia Walking Path sign located along highway 7. Check it out. It’s really cool. Jeremy wanted no recognition for all his work. Ok, that makes sense. Acts just like his dad Dave the Builder. Thanks a bunch Jeremy.

Now back to our speakers. First up was Lily Schulenberg, the Cherokee County fair queen. Wow what a dynamic personality. She will be competing for Iowa State fair queen next week. She told us about her experiences to this point and her plans for the future. Wish I could tell you more, but by now you know the rules. You were not there so you are left out. What a special young lady. Great job Mom and Pops. Congratulations.

Next up was Erin from Spain. That’s Mark the Tall One’s daughter. Man, was it interesting the differences in sports, school, and all around culture between Spain and the United States.

So much similar, yet just enough differences to make the presentation very interesting. You should have been there. It was awesome.

Then we got down to business which is none of yours.

Hope to see you next week Thursday. Have a great week and take care of you and yours. Hugs.

NEXT MEETING: Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7 a.m. at Aurelia Community Center.
