LILLIAN M. FORESMAN, 89, of Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, surrounded by her family at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Methodist Church in Marcus, Iowa. Pastor Travis Stevick will officiate. Private family burial will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Cleghorn, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Grace Methodist Church from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family suggests memorials be made to Grace Methodist Church, Heartland Care Center, or Cherokee Regional Hospice.
Lillian was born on October 29, 1935 to Niels and Ingrid (Andersen) Jorgensen at Hooper, Nebraska. She graduated from North Bend High School in 1953 and went on to Wayne State College, earning her teaching certificate. While at Wayne State, she met her lifelong sweetheart, Jack Foresman. She was united in marriage to Jack C. Foresman on August 14, 1955 at Scribner, Nebraska.
Lillian taught for one year at Webster Country School in rural Nebraska. She worked at home as a homemaker, raising their three sons, Greg, Jay, and Lee. She was the owner and operator of the Texaco Food Mart in Quimby from 1988 until 2008.
She was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Marcus, Iowa. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, sang in the musical sextet, the Pleasant Tones, and served as the church organist for many years.
In her free time, she loved to bake, especially rye bread and cookies, reading, listening to music, bird watching, and going to watch the grandkids and great grandkid’s activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Foresman, two sons, Greg Foresman and Jay Foresman, great granddaughter Grace Lillian Foresman, great grandson Gabriel Paul Foresman; two sisters, Inez (Roland) Benjes and Edy (Don) Montgomery, and brother Stan Jorgensen.
Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her son, Lee and Gina Foresman of Cleghorn, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Nathan (Larie) Foresman and their sons, Colton and Case, Chad (Meagan) Foresman and their sons Gage and Luke, and Kayla (Mitchell) Means and their children Hailey and Samuel; sister Sonja Waite of Michigan; sister-in-law Judy Jorgensen of Fremont, Nebraska.
