Mary Annette Saner, age 79 of Viroqua, WI (formerly Cherokee, IA0 passed away at Verno Manor in Viroqua. Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will take place at Marcus- Amherst Cemtery in Marcus, IA. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday night at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Mary Annette (Garvin) Saner, 79 of Viroqua, Wisconsin (formerly of Cherokee, Iowa), passed away on September 5, 2024 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua.

Mary was born on September 12, 1944 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa to John Robert (Bob) Garvin and Irma Irene Garvin. After graduating from Marcus High School in 1963, she went on to study for lab technician work at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She worked as a lab technician and medical assistant for Sioux Valley Hospital and Dr. Pat Harrison for many years, as well as having clerical positions with Jesse's Fine Meats and Amy Stief Accounting.

She married Eugene Saner on September 1, 1964, with her and Eugene celebrating this 60th anniversary with family in July. Three sons, Dean, Darren, and Todd followed, along with welcoming niece and honorary daughter, Angelique Garvin, into the family. Mary spent much of her later years focusing on her family, with much love and attention to her seven grandchildren. She was greatly looking forward to the upcoming birth of her first great-grandchild.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and brother Tom. She is survived by brother Robert (Bob), husband Eugene, sons Dean (Jackie), Darren (Robin), Todd (Jenny), honorary daughter Angelique, and grandchildren Emily, Lauren (Ryan), Abby (Graham), Carolyn, Sam, Madelyn, and Meredith.
