Mary E. Casaday, 77, of Cherokee passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, Sept. 20, 2026.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Alfonso Solis will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden. Visitation with the family present will take place an hour prior to services beginning at 1 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
Mary was born on July 31, 1949, to Claude and Evelyn (Allen) Campbell. She attended Riverside School in Sioux City. She was united in marriage to Don Casaday Sr. in Elk Point, S.D. She stayed at home to raise their five children. After they were grown, she worked at various motels and nursing homes.
She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Sioux City.
Mary enjoyed playing Bingo, finding a deal at any garage sale she attended, baking, going to church and spending any time with family that she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law Sandra Casaday; and grandson Junior Casaday.
Mary is survived by her children: Don Casaday Jr. of Cleghorn; Cathy Wahlers of Oto; Earl (Mona) Casaday of Sioux City; William Casaday Sr. of Sioux City; and Rosemary Casaday of Onawa; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Osborne of Sioux City; and Betty Riggs of Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
