Question of the Week: Who is your favorite superhero?
By Tessa Weiler
This week I had the pleasure of interviewing people in my high school on the question, “Who is your favorite superhero?” Mrs. Roling said her favorite superhero is, “Spiderman, because he is cool.” Mr. Chris Poeckes said his favorite superhero is, “Superman, because he is a nice guy.” Olivia Spenner (Sr.) said her favorite superhero is, “Batman, because he is an awesome guy.” Michael Peterson (Sr.) said his favorite superhero is, “Spiderman, because he is a cool guy.” Clint Staab (Sr.) said his favorite superhero is, “Ironman, because he is a nice guy.” Finally, I decided that I liked the Hulk because he says, “RAWR!”
Culinary II Exam
By Haydn Aduddell
MMCRU High School’s Culinary II class has just had its first major project for the semester. Everything that the students have learned, so far, was accumulated into one conclusive project. Students worked in groups to plan and prepare any food they desired, so long as it displayed their understanding of at least three of the eight food topics learned to that date. Students were originally placed on a $15 budget for the project, which they would use to visit Jeff’s Foods and select their products, but due to school being cancelled on the day designated for that occasion, the budget was lifted and the trip to Jeff’s Foods was abolished. As usual, the students and paraprofessionals exchanged a rather content time with preparing food, consuming it, and sharing it with fellow attendees.
Heap of the Week
By Noah Hart
Isabelle Richardson drives a 2003 Lincoln town car that she bought when she was sixteen. Richardson’s favorite memory with her car is when she nearly wrecked her car with her cousin, but they ended up laughing about it. Her favorite part about her car is the interior and the nice leather seats. When asked about her least favorite part of her car, she replied, “The bumper and the AC.” Richardson followed up with explaining that the bumper is broken up and her AC does not work.
MMCRU 3rd Grade Valentine’s from all 50 States & More!
By Christian Lowden
Mrs. Jen Nieuwenhuis is one of the third grade teachers at MMCRU Marcus Elementary. With the help of parents and some community members, her class posted on Facebook that they wanted to receive a valentine from each state. They ended up receiving a valentine from all 50 states, and a few countries too. All of the valentines had something interesting about them, but her class really enjoyed getting “BigFoot Poop” (marshmallows covered in chocolate) from Oregon. This valentine also sent a guide to finding BigFoot! When asked where the furthest place they received a valentine from, Nieuwenhuis replied, “Australia!” Another interesting valentine was from an air force base. This will definitely be a yearly project! The kids, parents, school staff, friends, and family all got involved and were invested throughout the whole project!
