Norma was born on October 17, 1933 to Noel and Vesta (Green) Courtright at Quimby, Iowa.  She became a Methodist at a young age.  She attended church and Sunday school into adulthood. Along with volunteering in many committees, she very much enjoyed her different church families as she moved throughout the years.  She held several clerical positions for almost 40 years.

Norma found joy in gardening, reading, sewing, collecting angels, and baking; especially her “famous” cinnamon streusel”, which she loved to give as gifts during the holidays.  She also really enjoyed making greeting cards, which led to a card ministry for many years.

She is survived by her son, Dan Gano of Spirit Lake, Iowa; daughter, Kimberlee (Greg) Travlos of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Ed) Johnson, Hannah (Josh) Werth, and Kyle (Emily) Travlos; eight great grandchildren, Jenna (Justin) Hurtig, Jaclyn Johnson-Hollowell, Kendra (Tanner) Christoffel, Kortney Johnson (fiancé Noah Skornia), Evan Johnson, Nolan Werth, Bennett Travlos, and Hailey Travlos; 12 great grandchildren, Kallie and Kora Moritz, Jaiden, Kaine, Jax, and Konner Hurtig, Knoxton, Emmersyn, and Haddalyn Hollowell, Lukas, Addison, and Berkley Christoffel.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hanson, daughter-in-law Linda Gano, parents Noel and Vesta Courtright, and brothers Floyd and Clayton Courtright.
