Pamela Lee “Pam” Dayton, 76, of Cherokee passed away Friday evening, May 9, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Private family Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. 

Pam was born on Sept. 2, 1948, to Roy and Rebecca “Becky” (Powell) LaFrentz at Cherokee. She attended grade school in Cushing and Washta and graduated from Cherokee Washington High School. 

She worked for Perrin’s Fur Farm, Mattel, when she lived in California, tended bar at the Last Chance-Barb’s Place and the Brightside. She retired from Tyson's in 2014.

She was affiliated with the Lutheran Church.

Pam loved putting puzzles together, crafting, sewing, baking, cooking and absolutely adored anything with wolves. 

She was preceded in death by her father Roy LaFrentz; mother Becky Bennett; daughter Staci Brady; significant other Jim Smith; and several aunts and uncles.

Pam is survived by her children: Rob and Marsha Parcel of Alta; Nikki and Joel Mickelson of Henderson, Nev.; six grandkids: Adam (Ashley) Parcel, Ross Parcel (fiancé Briana Foulk), Benjamin (Brianna) Martin, Jesse (Amanda) Mickelson, Jaidyn Brady and Johnathyn Brady; four great-grandkids: Hallie, Leo, Jaxson and Liam; son-in-law Chad Brady of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; sister Twila and Jerry Duysen of Cherokee; nieces and nephews: Rachel (Danny) Smith of Galva; Tammy (Glenn) Curtis of Cherokee; and Blake (Jamison Osbourne) Duysen of Ames; also several great-nieces and nephews.
