Peggy A. Ellis, 78, of Cherokee passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St. Luke's Unity Point Health in Sioux City.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 3-5 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
Peggy was born on Aug. 14, 1947, to Percy and Shirley (Miller) Ellis at Cherokee. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1965. he earned her certified nursing assistant license and worked for over 40 years at various nursing homes around the area caring for residents.
In her free time she enjoyed crafting, baking and cherished any time spent with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her life partner Steven Graff; son Brian Ellis; parents, Percy and Shirley Ellis; stepmom Susie Ellis; and sisters, Cindy Foust and Pam Bruning.
Peggy is survived by her son Shane Ellis of Moville; daughter-in-law Angie and Darin Bruce of Aurelia; grandchildren: Jacob and Ashley Bruce and their children Avery, Grady, Cully and Pacey of Cherokee; Jared and Molly Bruce and their children Aubrey and Riley of Spirit Lake; Aaron Bruce of Benson, Minn.; and Courtney Bruce of Aurelia; Mercedes and Chloe Ellis; siblings, Sharon Hoffman of Anaheim, Calif., and Tom Ellis of Storm Lake; also many nieces and nephews.
