Richard Dean Hultman was born on Oct. 25, 1933, to Reuben and Leona (Matson) Hultman. Rich grew up in the Meriden area, attending school in Meriden and graduating in 1953. He married the love of his life, Colleen Hanson, on July 18, 1954, at Meriden Evangelical Free Church, where they met at age of 12.
They lived in Cherokee where they raised their four children: Ronald, Jodi, Cindy and Russ. He was a dedicated professional truck driver and a car enthusiast. His 1966 Red Mustang convertible was always a favorite. Rich worked 10 years for Fixel Oil Company, drove many years for Simonsen Mill in Quimby, Umthun Trucking, Eagle Grove and Stylecraft in Milford. After many summers spent on Lake Okoboji with family and friends, the Hultman's moved to Arnold's Park for nine years before retiring to Kingman, Ariz., in 1996. Rich and Colleen worked together as park managers of the Mesa Verde Senior Living Mobile Home Park for 22 years, where they resided.
Rich was a member of Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course in Kingman and the Kingman Social Club. He was an active member of Kingman Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an elder, attended the men's weekly bible study, and was the grounds keeper. Rich was the official greeter that met everyone with a hug on Sunday mornings.
Following Colleen’s death in 2019, Rich moved back to Iowa and has resided in Cherokee the past six years.
On June 11, 2021, Richard married Barbara Sorensen of Aurelia. They enjoyed traveling, golfing, daily coffee groups, spending time with family and trips to Arizona. One of Rich's favorite pastimes was watching baseball and golf on TV.
