Robert “Ben” Jobe, 73, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Ben is now with his special friend, Cathy Huff.
A brief celebration of life service will be held at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa at a later date.
Ben was born on October 4,1951 in Cherokee to Gerald D. and Betty Jean (Johnson) Jobe. He was a lifelong Cherokee resident.
He graduated from Cherokee Washington High School in 1970. He attended a business school in Sioux City. From 1971 to 1976, he worked at the VFW Club with his dad. In 1976, he went with his dad to open Jobies Saloon (1976-1990). In 1992, he returned to the VFW Club. From 2000 to 2015 he owned and operated Jobies Pastime Lounge. Jobies was synonymous with the bar business.
Ben also owned A to Z Liquors from 2015 until retirement.
Poker, pool, gambling and collecting beer signs were lifetime passions for Ben. Through these hobbies and his years in the various bars, Ben made a multitude of friends. Many remember his friendliness and willingness to help others.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary.
He is survived by his brother Mike (Kay), Jobe, La Plata, MD; Uncles Doug (Sandy) Jobe, Calabash NC; Duane (Norma) Jobe, Council Bluffs, IA and numerous nephews/nieces.
