Joyce (Tidrick) Caughey, 92, of Cherokee, formerly of Brainerd, Minn., passed away at her home in Cherokee on Aug. 20, 2026, surrounded by her family. She is now at peace in the arms of her loving savior.
Joyce was born on June 20, 1934, to Elmer and Edna Tidrick at Pillager, Minn.
On April 21, 1951, she married Russell Caughey and they built their life together on the family farm in Brainerd, Minn., and had five children: Russell Jr., Lynn, Kaye, Gaye and JoAnn.
Joyce demonstrated God’s love to her family, friends and community. Joyce enjoyed cooking, baking (especially cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls and buns).
Her pride and joy were her children and their families, that she cherished spending time with.
Joyce was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edna Tidrick; husband Russell Caughey; daughter Gaye Caughey; grandsons, Shane Rupp and Tyler Rupp; sister Winnifred Olson; and brother Richard Tidrick.
Joyce is survived by four children: Russell Caughey Jr. (Deb Belcher) of Brainerd, Minn.; Lynn (Dan) Regner of Long Prairie, Minn.; Kaye (Michael) Hoover of Marcus; and Jo (Neal) Rupp of Quimb; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister Nancy (Bernard) Kienow of Dayton, Ohio; and brother Jim (Sue) Tidrick of Circle Pines, Minn.
Also, especially dear to her heart are Don and Marci Nelson of Brainerd, Minn., and Chris and Linda Morrison of Gold Canyon, Ariz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 12-3 p.m. at the Cleghorn Community Center with a luncheon at 1 p.m.
Joyce was an avid reader, being recognized for checking out and reading the most at the Cherokee Public Library. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorials, donations should be made to the Cherokee Public Library, or a charity of their choosing.
