Roni was born on June 26, 1948, to Dave and O’Linda (Bertsch) Hofman in South Dakota. She began country school in Parkston, S.D. She briefly attended Aurelia Elementary School and then Meriden School, graduating from Meriden-Cleghorn High School in 1966. She was united in marriage to Larry Timmerman on Sept. 7, 1968 at Meriden. She began working as a med-surg tech at MHI in Cherokee. While her three children were little, Roni stayed home taking care of them and helping Larry on the farm. She then started cleaning homes, painting and hanging wallpaper for people in Cherokee and the surrounding area. She eventually returned to the MHI in the maintenance department until her retirement.
She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she faithfully participated in Joyful Charity Circle and generously helped with many church activities. She volunteered with the Ingathering, Vacation Bible School, church meals, funeral luncheons and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
Never one to sit still, Roni always kept a full social calendar, spending time visiting shut-ins, taking people to appointments and attending her grandchildren's many activities. She loved sending thoughtful cards to friends and loved ones, participating in Bible studies, playing cards and working on puzzles. Her kindness, servant's heart and devotion to family and faith touched the lives of many.
Roni was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Charlie Bell, husband Larry, older sister Ruby (Jerry) Colvert and brother-in-law Bob Harrison.
Roni will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Amy (Marlin) Stief of Cherokee; Adam (Jana) Timmerman of Cherokee; and Kent (Natasha) Timmerman of Cherokee; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with two more expected this summer; Marshall (Bree) Stief of Cherokee; Mitchell (Skylar) Stief and their daughter Kimber of Cherokee; Madi (Jarod) LeLoux and their daughter Laramie of Inwood; and Maverick Stief of Cherokee; Mason (Libby) Timmerman and their children, Esther and Paul of Cherokee; Alexa (John) Harper and their daughter Eden of Milford, Ohio; Jada (Jacob) Friedrichsen of Cherokee; Cole Timmerman (Ava Simonsen) of Cherokee; Trey Timmerman of Cherokee; and Ally Timmerman of Cherokee; siblings: Deloris (Gary) Brown of Ozark, Mo.; and Betty Harrison of Ponchatoula, La.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
