William H. "Bill" Joines, 91, of Cherokee passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Merritt Demski will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main St. in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee.
Bill was born on Jan. 7, 1935, to Frank and Enid (Shove) Joines at Cherokee. He graduated from Washington High School in 1954. He was united in marriage on Oct. 24, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina to Bonnie Hagenbucher.
Bill worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for many years until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. He was also a member of the Red Power Tractor Club.
In his free time he enjoyed antique tractors and automobile restoration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Enid Joines; wife Bonnie Joines; son-in-law Scott Blades; and brothers Robert and Richard Joines.
Bill is survived by his children: Steven (Susan) Joines of Woodbury, Minn.; Michael (Terri) Joines of West Des Moines; Gregory (Heather) Joines of Redwood Falls, Minn.; and Brenda Blades of Edgemont, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara Joines of Seneca, S.C. and Donna (Daryl) Nelson of Cherokee.
