Survey: Keep school names

As a result of a suggestion by the School Improvement Advisory Committee, a survey was taken to determine how Cherokee school district residents feel about a potential name change for the high school and elementary school, making those names consistent with the Cherokee Middle School.

There were 958 responses to the survey, and the respondents preferred keeping the name Roosevelt Elementary School, by a vote of 506 to 391 for Cherokee Elementary School. There were 41 votes for ""

The preference for keeping the high school name was even stronger. There were 542 votes to keep Washington High School as the name and 331 votes for Cherokee High School. There were 67 votes for "other."
