Would you prefer to schedule an appointment for your driver's license or be able to walk in to the treasurer's office?

Posted
Due to the confirmed substantial community spread of COVID-19 in Iowa, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors ordered the closure of the Courthouse and Engineer’s Office to public access starting Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, until further notice. All county functions were continued on an appointment-only basis.

The Treasurer's office has maintained the practice of requiring appointments for driver's license services.

In May 2024, Supervisor Duane Mummert inquired about the Treasurer's Office policy of scheduling driver's license appointments, which began in 2020. Treasurer Jodi Mongan defended the practice, stating it improves efficiency for both staff and residents. She indicated  emergency situations like lost wallets would be accommodated, but appointments would remain the primary method.

Mongan noted that residents who are unable to schedule appointments will be directed by staff to other county offices.
