Vacant council seat filled in Washta

Posted

Washta’s City Council appointed Bryan Stieneke to the vacant council seat after a unanimous vote at their Feb. 5 meeting.

The vacancy arose when sitting council member Jennifer Conner was elected Mayor. The matter was brought forward at the Jan. 10 council meeting when a motion was made to appoint Savanna Nelson to fill the remaining term for Conner’s seat. At that time, the motion failed and the matter was tabled. Stieneke was appointed following a motion from council member April Joy, seconded by Larry Patterson.

Stieneke, who has served on Washta City Council previously, will fill the seat until 2026.
