Restocking homes after floods

Aunt Betty’s to host free event in Aurelia

Posted

Aunt Betty’s in Aurelia will host a “Restock Your Home” event Friday, July 5, and Saturday, July 6, to aid those impacted by recent flooding. The event aims to provide essential items to those affected by the disaster.

Free clothing, household goods and more

The event will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on both days and will offer a variety of free items, including clothing, household goods, bedding and knick-knacks.

Donations needed

The community is encouraged to donate usable items to support the cause. Anyone interested in donating can contact Pam Allen at 712-229-3156.

Focus on children's needs

There's a special effort underway to collect items specifically for children. Organizers are looking for donations of books, crayons, snacks, stuffed animals and other age-appropriate items. They recommend donors create a designated “children’s box,” marked with a targeted age, for easy selection.

Large item donations and pick-up

Many residents in the town of Aurelia have generously offered to donate larger items like beds and furniture. Weather permitting, these items will be placed in residents’ yards with a “free” sign for those affected by the floods to pick up.

This event is a collaborative effort between Aunt Betty’s and the citizens of Aurelia to help area residents recover from the recent flooding.
