Mildred Grant, age 96 of Sioux Falls, SD, and formerly of Cherokee, IA, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date. Mildred Agnus Grant, aged 96, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born on May 22, 1928, on a farm near West Point, Nebraska, to Steve and Caroline (Schlickbernd) Engelmeyer.

Mildred attended elementary and high school at Guardian Angels School in West Point, graduating in 1945. She furthered her education by attending college at Wayne State in Wayne, Nebraska and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, in 1970.

Throughout her career, Mildred dedicated herself to education, teaching in various schools, including North Platte, Nebraska, Quimby, Iowa, Immaculate Conception in Cherokee, Iowa, and Cherokee Public Schools. She retired from teaching in 1993.

Mildred is survived by her four sons and their families: Jim (Peggy) Grant of Quincy, IL, Steve Grant (special friend Denise Hanson), Marcus, Iowa, Ron (Lori) Grant of Lantana, Texas, Tom (Beth) Grant of Sioux Falls, SD.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Keith (Lisa) of Iowa, and their children Claudia and Emma; Ryan Grant (special friend Kayla Heidzig), South Dakota, and his son Jaxon; Kiel (Megan) Grant, Iowa, and their children Oliver, Lilith, and Everett; Kevin (Kristine) Grant, Norway, and their children Isaac and Elias; Kamryn (Jacee) Grant, Texas, and their children Rorke, Ryder, and Tillis; Katie (Colin) Hinchey, Texas, and their children June, Silas, Sadie, and Samuel; Marley-Grace Grant.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Caroline Engelmeyer, sister Marie (Martin Weiller), and brothers Herman (Ella) Engelmeyer, and Vincent (Leona) Engelmeyer.
