Author, educator and Cherokee native, Mark Simmons played in the Sioux Valley Golf tournament, signed books at Book Vine on Main Street and made a donation to the Cherokee Public Library. Simmons, author of The Hooky Bookie Comic told the Chronicle staff, “Our family left Cherokee and moved to California in 1964, but my heart and home will always be the beautiful town of Cherokee, Iowa."
