Posted

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, April 18 at 1:12 pm. Rex Blum, 63, Wall Lake, was traveling eastbound on county road M21 when the right side wheels of his 1999 Freightliner semi came off of the travel portion of the roadway and went onto the shoulder. Blum tried to steer the vehicle back to the road without success, and the weight of the trailer pulled the semi further off the roadway, hitting a road sign. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on its side. The sign, which is owned by Cherokee County Roads Department, received an estimated $450 in damage. The semi received disabling damage that was estimated at $50,000 and Blum complained of possible injuries.  Blum was transporting for Koster Grain Inc. of Carroll, IA.
